Executive Director Position

Human and Institutional Development Forum (HIDF) is seeking to recruit a dynamic and self-directed social development professional as its Executive Director. The candidate must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences from a reputed university with an experience of atleast 7 years in a leadership position with a demonstrated competence in human and institutional development (HID).

HIDF has been demonstrating the relevance of embedding a multi-disciplinary approach; integrating process-orientation with technical dimensions of development initiatives and most importantly the role of internal change agents and accompaniment services for organizational change. HIDF gives emphasis to human processes – changes that need to happen at both individual and group. As a support organization, HIDF has a national presence and has given HID services to a wide variety of players in the development sector that includes CSOs, CBOs and networks and their programmatic engagements. Presently, the thematic engagements of HIDF are
  1. Identity, Dignity and Diversity;
  2. Leadership and Organizational Change;
  3. Governance and Accountability and
  4. Media and advocacy.   
 All our thematic engagements give focus to the Dalits, Muslims, Adivasis, marginalized communities and all `genders’. Each of these arenas are managed by Program Anchors.

Job description of the Executive Director
The Executive Director will represent HIDF in all fora and report to the Chairperson and the Board of the Governing Board of HIDF.
Executive Director will have the following roles:
  1. Strategic role
  • Strategic Planning, leading and coordinating the activities of HID Forum
  • Providing direction for all programs / projects 
  • Developing strategic partnerships to enhance Forum’s outreach. 
  1. Fund Raising
  • Raising funds for the organization, programs
  • Conducting research on funding sources, developing fund raising plans and writing funding proposals to receive funds of the organization 
  1. Governance
  • Coordinate the governance of HIDF with the Board through Board meetings and sub-committee meetings
  • Ensure follow up action on decisions taken at the Board meetings
  1. Finance & Office Management
  • Accounts and finance: Authorisation, management and tracking of accounts and finance; Overview of the office management
  1. Relationship building
  • Networking, finding opportunities, marketing and branding HIDF
  • Partnering with critical stakeholders and strategic partners 
  • Maintaining an extended network with HID professionals 
  • Partner with Trust for Development Services (TfDS), a sister concern of HIDF
  1. Human resource management 
  • Determining staffing/ human resource requirements for organizational management and program delivery
  • Overseeing the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job description for all staff
  • Establishing a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
  • Recruiting, interviewing and selecting staff that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization's mission
  • Ensuring that all staff receives an orientation to the organization and that appropriate training is provided
  • Implementing a performance management process for all staff, which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review
  1. Program Management
  • Training, coordination, accompaniment and documentation of Programs / projects\
  • Sourcing new partners, appraising new projects, Planning Interventions and trainings 
  • Monitoring and Review of project activities and fund utilization 
  • Developing an operational plan, which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization 
  • Ensuring that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of its clients, Board and Funders
  • Overseeing the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
  • Drafting policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate
  • Ensuring that personnel, client, donor and volunteer files are securely stored and privacy/confidentiality is maintained
  • Ensuring that the programs and services offered by the organization contribute to the organization's mission and reflect the priorities of the Board
Location of the Position
The Executive Director’s position will be located in Bengaluru. In exceptional cases, the Board may consider the ED to operate out of another city but travel to Bengaluru on regular basis.
