Our Work

Our Work

HIDF strengthens social development organizations that work towards empowerment of poor, marginalised and discriminated sections of Indian society to live a life with dignity.   We aim to build the human and professional capacities of individuals and institutions in the social sector.

As a Forum, we believe in partnerships to further our goals. All our work includes various forms of partnerships. Following are 3 broad overarching categories of partnerships:

Partnership

Partnership

Strategic partnerships are broader institutional partnerships on specific themes and long term. In such partnerships both institutions will contribute their specific expertise, human and material resources and have specific roles to play which are clearly agreed upon. The strategic partnership can be with more than two institutions for the same theme.  Focus will be on extending human and institutional development opportunities to the social development sector.

If you are interested to collaborate, please do mail us at  INFO@HIDFORUM.ORG we will get back to you.

Limited partnerships are specific issue based partnership. Currently HIDF has few limited partnerships with grassroots organisations and women’s organisations focusing on IDD issues. Limited partnership largely involves mutual agreement for a short period or specific objective agreed upon. Many partners in this relationship, find it difficult to undertake IB due to financial constraints. HIDF  mobilises resources to the best of its ability. However, some of the partners also have limited financial resources through which they offer to take care of travel, accommodation or pay nominal resource fee. Another character of this type of partnership is that while the start is made on one issue the process can lead in to other mutually agreed upon issues.

Servicing / Consulting is a partnership where clients pay us for certain services we offer. HIDF provides services to many organisations.

Our Strategies

We believe that the following four strategies we apply will help us actualise our vision:

Providing Organizational change support

We work with a variety of organizational types – Small, medium and large organisations, grass root level CBOs, People's Collectives, unions, networks and more, to identify their change needs and strengthen effectiveness. Our interventions range from systems strengthening, restructuring, governance strengthening, strategic planning on one hand to mainstreaming gender, team building, leadership development on the other, to address themes related to human and institutional development (HID) and effectiveness. As a result, organisations are empowered to effectively carry out their agendas and implement change. Accompaniment is a collective journey between the client organisation and HID Forum while creating spaces for co-creation from beginning till the end.

Building people’s competencies

We offer short and long term learning opportunities for people to gain and enhance skills, perspectives, knowledge and orientations to perform their roles more effectively. This in turn equips them with competence to identify and facilitate change processes at self and organizational levels. Hence individuals become sources of and resources for change. We offer learning events as part of our strategic alliances and collaborations on themes like leadership, organisational change, gender, community educators, unconscious processes at self and group levels, diversity and more.

Research and knowledge Building

This enables us to explore themes and methodologies related to institution building processes (such as leadership, gender-mainstreaming and equity, methodologies in organizational change facilitation and management) in different contexts. This informs our work and helps develop a knowledge base on HID. Our knowledge building rests on our experiences and understanding.

Consulting

Offering our services to the diverse actors in the development sector provides us valuable opportunity to contribute, learn and move towards financial sustainability. HID Forum has a large pool of resource persons with extensive experience and engagement in human and institution development (HID) consulting who collaborate with us when required on specific assignments. HIDF's network is one if it’s distinctive advantages - enabling quick response to needs of the client systems throughout India.
