COVID-19 Second Wave - Relief Efforts
COVID 2021
The second wave of covid 2021 has put an overwhelming pressure on the Indian healthcare system with the rapidly increasing number of covid positive patients. The lockdown adopted by the state has impacted the livelihoods of most marginal communities like daily wage workers, and those in the informal economy. There are inadequate measures provided to ensure the safety of people.
Lack of livelihoods, access to health care have pushed the marginal communities further periphery. As people are still struggling to recover from the first wave in 2020, they are badly affected by the second wave.
The experiences in major towns like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi suggests that the coming months are going to be critical for smaller towns and districts with wide spread infection, inadequate hospital access, inadequate doctors and nurses.
You can help change this.
We are working in 54 villages and 31 wards across 8 districts of Karnataka, Vijayapura, Bidar, Kalburgi, Koppal, Vijayanagara, Bellary, Davanagere and Bengaluru. We work with most marginal communities like Migrant Women, Semi Nomadic Tribes, Domestic Violence Survivors, Dalits, Gender and Sexuality Minorities, Informal Economy Workers like construction workers, Beedi Workers and Devadasi women.

General Support
You can donate untied funds to HID Forum, which we will streamline towards the current needs arising.
Apart from the Program running costs, there are various expenditures incurred under the administration head from water and electricity bills to traveling for fieldwork which are fundamental to the existence of our organisation.
Support Roopantaras
HIDF implements the Roopantara programme aimed at grassroots community strengthening. We call our community educators as Roopantaras.
Contribute to Roopantara salaries
Currently 12 Roopantaras are supported financially through a small amount of ₹15000 per month. By donating for the Roopantaras who are working at the grassroots for strengthening the communities, you are contributing towards making a change in our society.
Fund the office space
Most of the Roopantaras work from their homes, due to lack of an office space. You can contribute towards creating an office space for each Roopantara. Having a work space will have an impact on their work!
Donate a laptop
With the COVID-19 pandemic and the shift of work to digital platforms, laptops have become integral more than ever. Our Roopantaras doesn’t have access to laptops, and they have to mostly depend on computer centres in their villages which are really distant from their homes. Donate a new or a used laptop (which is in working condition) which would support the work of the Roopantaras.
Contribute to capacity building programmes
The modules for training the Roopantaras are designed and facilitated by a five member team. The modules are essential for the personal growth of the Roopantaras, as well as the growth of the community. You can contribute towards the quarterly capacity building programme they undergo.
Mahila kattay – Aurotein Ki Majlis
We have budgeted for a year-long engagement with 30 women from across rural and semi urban areas in Karnataka, and we plan to have a 3-day Kattay/Majlis every quarter. The projected cost of 4 modules for every participant is ₹28,000. While the women will bear the cost of their travel, we are trying to raise support to meet the costs of conducting the programme.
You can choose to support one woman for the whole programme of 4 modules (Rs. 28,000) or multiples of 7000 (Rs 7000 per module). By supporting the Kattay/Majlis, you will be taking part in supporting women’s dreams.
